Sustainability

Set on 80Ha at the edge of the Wombat State Forest, this tourist retreat has been sited and orientated to capture the northern views that are on offer in this tranquil environment.

Transverse rammed earth walls provide the framework for the structure, divide the functions of the retreat and provide thermal mass and acoustic privacy for comfort.  The use of natural finishes and materials provide a connection between the building and the landscape.

Environmentally sustainable design techniques are employed including passive solar heating, water harvesting, thermal insulation and mass for temperature stabilisation.
