St KILDA STATION

Revitalisation   Historic               Mixed commercial hub

St. Kilda Station is the oldest extant railway station in Melbourne. By 1990 it was no longer in use and had become the victim of arsonists and vandals.

The restoration project included the reinstatement of this historic facility and its revitalisation as a mixed commercial hub. Restaurants, bars and a home for the Fringe Festival were some of the new uses for the old Station Hall and platform areas. In more recent times the building has become the focus of a medium density residential precinct.
